The Maldives' State Minister of Tourism Mohamed Nihad has been suspended after claiming the opposition planned to forcibly enter tourist resorts. His comments at a Progressive National Congress (PNC) gathering suggested the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) would storm resorts near Malé using boats and loudspeakers. The suspension was announced by Presidential Spokesperson Heena Waleed, who cited concerns about damaging tourist confidence as the country aims to welcome two million visitors this year.
