The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has reopened applications for loans to install refrigerated seawater (RSW) cooling systems, now including options for newly constructed boats. The scheme, in collaboration with SDFC, offers loans of up to MVR 2,000,000 without a mortgage, featuring flexible repayment terms and a focus on sustainable fishing practices. This initiative aims to ease the burden on fishermen and promote modernised fishing methods, with several RSW systems already installed in the southern regions.
