The Maldives expanded its tourism capacity in 2024 by adding over 1,600 new beds, increasing the total to 63,248, with significant growth driven by guesthouse accommodations. Resorts account for 67.27 per cent of the total capacity, followed by guesthouses, safaris, and hotels. With tourist arrivals surpassing 2 million for the first time in 2024, the Government aims to boost arrivals by 15 per cent and achieve USD 5 billion in tourism revenue in 2025.
