STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahmy has reported that two high-voltage transformers in Hulhumalé Phase 2 were deliberately vandalised today, causing widespread power disruptions. The perpetrators, who showed technical knowledge of transformer systems, breached multiple security measures to tamper with the high-voltage equipment. Fahmy warned of potentially lethal risks to both vandals and residents, referencing last year's transformer-related deaths while confirming that investigations are underway.
