A 17th-century cannon, locally called 'bodu badi', was discovered during excavations at the former Male' fort site in the Maldives. The historic piece was found near the junction of Chandhanee Magu and Dhambu Goalhi, an area where Sultan Mohammed Imaduddin I had built fortifications to protect the capital. The discovery site aligns with historical records of Male's defensive infrastructure, which included artillery-equipped towers and walls commissioned by the Sultan to guard against maritime threats.
