Authorities have installed over 3,500 sandbags across Male’ City to prepare for heavy rainfalls and potential flooding caused by a cyclonic system approaching from the west of the Bay of Bengal. Led by the MNDF, MPS, and Male’ City Council, the initiative aims to safeguard vulnerable areas, with additional efforts by the NDMA and other government bodies to distribute sandbags and protect homes. A yellow alert has been issued by the Maldives Meteorological Service, warning of torrential rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, prompting residents to take precautions.
