The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has fined 19 companies MVR 5,000 each for breaches during this year's pilgrimage season and warned that names will be disclosed if fines remain unpaid. Al-Hijra Travels and Tours received a heavy penalty, including a MVR 100,000 fine and a permanent operating ban after stranding pilgrims with one-way tickets. Additionally, the Ministry is investigating a company for fraudulent foreign currency activities and falsified documents.
