State Minister for Homeland Security and Technology, Uza Lubna Mohamed Zahir Hussain, has announced plans to implement community-based drug rehabilitation alongside existing detox centres, featuring buprenorphine treatment under medical supervision. The voluntary programme will be hospital-based and requires adequate parental supervision for participation. The initiative aims to address capacity issues at current facilities whilst strengthening psychosocial support through NGO partnerships.
