The Government has contracted China's Sinohydro to construct 1,000 housing flats in Baa Eydhafushi, specifically designed to accommodate tourism industry workers and their families in twelve 15-storey towers. The development aims to transform Eydhafushi into a key residential hub supporting nearby resort islands, potentially revolutionising traditional worker accommodation patterns in the tourism sector. The project, featuring a mix of two and three-bedroom flats, aligns with the Government's broader "Dhiveheenge Raajje" Manifesto commitment and represents a significant step in addressing both housing and tourism workforce needs in Maldives.
