The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a white alert from Haa Alif Atoll to Vaavu Atoll, effective from 6:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. today.

The advisory covers 12 atolls, including Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, Noonu, Raa, Baa, Lhaviyani, Kaafu, Alifu Alifu, Alifu Dhaalu, Vaavu, and Faafu.

According to the MET Office, sustained winds between 19 and 24 miles per hour are expected, with gusts possibly reaching up to 45 miles per hour. Sea conditions are forecast to be rough, with wave heights ranging from 4 to 7 feet.

While the weather is expected to improve in the coming days, the MET Office has urged residents, visitors, and especially maritime operators to take necessary precautions. Small vessel operators are advised to avoid travel during the warning period due to the increased risk posed by strong winds and turbulent seas.
