The Maldives Police Service has issued a public alert over a fraudulent message falsely claiming that the Government’s Gedhoruveriya housing scheme has reopened for applications.

According to police, the scam message states that the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has rejected all previous applications and is now accepting new submissions. The message includes a suspicious link, claiming to direct users to the official form.

Authorities have confirmed that this message is fake and urged the public not to click on any links or provide personal or financial information. The Gedhoruveriya application process does not operate through external links and can only be accessed via the official e-Faas portal.

The Anti-Scam Centre has stressed the need for public vigilance amid a rise in scam attempts across the country. Citizens are advised not to engage in any financial transactions unless they are certain of the source’s authenticity.

Police have asked the public to report any suspected scams to the National Emergency Hotline 911, the Anti-Scam Centre at 125 (ext. 2020), or through the designated email. Complaints can also be lodged at centres in Malé and the atolls.
