Maldives' first conference on national identity, Kalhuohfunmi-Dhivehi Gaumiyyathuge Dharubaaru, was inaugurated by Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef at the Islamic University of Maldives. The biannual event, organised by Dhivehi Gaumiyyathuge Isvaaru and the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture, and Heritage, explores Maldivian history, culture, and heritage through academic sessions and research presentations. The conference features nine research papers on topics such as the origins of Islam in the Maldives, local dialects, and ancient Islamic designs, aiming to foster patriotism and preserve the nation's cultural identity.
