The Maldives Industrial Development Free Zone (MIDFZ) and China Harbour Engineering Company have partnered to establish an agricultural economic zone in Fushi Dhiggaru Falhu, aligning with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's goal to enhance food security. Originally planned for Uthuru Thila Falhu, the project was relocated to a more suitable site and aims to reduce the country's heavy reliance on imported food. This initiative supports sustainable food production in a nation where over 90 per cent of food is imported.
