The Government is upgrading the Aasandha healthcare portal to address inefficiencies and rising costs in the universal healthcare scheme, which currently exceeds its annual USD 194.5 million budget. The upgrades include enhanced monitoring mechanisms to prevent misuse, such as repeated medical tests and unauthorised prescription collections. Officials have also called for greater patient responsibility to ensure transparency and cost reduction while maintaining comprehensive healthcare coverage.
