Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort and the MaRHE Center of the University of Milano-Bicocca have joined forces to study tropical marine ecosystems in Gaafu Alifu Atoll, focusing on the rare phenomenon of resident dolphins. The research includes identifying dolphin species, studying coral reefs, and using advanced techniques like environmental DNA analysis, offering valuable fieldwork opportunities for marine biology students. Findings from this collaboration, aimed at enhancing conservation efforts in the southern Maldives, will be presented at the resort on December 12, 2024.
