The 6th Amendment to the Constitution, ratified on 20 November 2024, significantly expands presidential powers through amendments to Article 115(e). The updated provision grants the President explicit authority to shape key state policies, provide leadership and guidance to Government institutions, and formulate national development strategies. Previously, the Constitution did not clearly define these responsibilities, leaving gaps in the President's role in determining short, medium, and long-term national development plans. This amendment aims to centralise strategic decision-making under the President’s authority, ensuring cohesive governance and policy direction.
