Finance Minister Moosa Zameer announced the Maldives' goal to transition 33 per cent of its energy consumption to renewable sources, highlighting the need for international collaboration and support. Speaking at the Global Economic Policy Forum in India, he linked the initiative to the broader challenges of global economic turbulence and the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on small, tourism-dependent economies like the Maldives. Minister Zameer also stressed the importance of sustainable debt management and revenue generation to ensure long-term economic resilience.
