The Business Centre Corporation (BCC) has disbursed MVR 26 million to suppliers in 2024 through the sale of locally produced goods, according to Deputy Managing Director Samih Adam.

Speaking on MMTV's Bodu Khabaru programme, Samih highlighted that 29 per cent of all disbursements through the company’s Authentic Maldives outlets over the last five years were made in 2024.

Authentic Maldives, a flagship initiative of BCC, showcases local products at key locations, including two Maldivian airports, Crossroads Maldives, and AA. Thoddoo. Additionally, these products are available at two Japanese airports and the World Bank headquarters in Washington.

Through its 12 regional business centres, BCC has provided technical advice to 2,000 individuals this year, according to Samih. He also noted that the BCC Training Institute has trained around 600 students in various disciplines, supporting skill development nationwide.

Samih further explained that the recently launched Kumevi portal is a significant step toward improving accessibility to BCC services. The platform offers features such as access to the Maha portal for selling fish products, registration with the self-employed register, and support under the recently introduced Creative Economy Fund.
