Controller General of Immigration Mohamed Shamaan Waheed has reaffirmed the Maldives’ strict policy against illegal residency, following reports of a French family living without proper documentation for over a decade. Efforts are underway to deport the family, who initially entered on tourist visas, with expired passports complicating the process. Shamaan emphasised the Government’s dedication to enforcing immigration laws, ensuring such violations are addressed promptly.
