The Government has introduced new rules, effective December 15, allowing individuals to pay annual land and sea fare dues in instalments. Applicants with outstanding dues exceeding MVR 10,000 can request this facility from the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, provided they meet specific criteria, including paying a commitment fee of up to 18 per cent. Instalment agreements may be revoked if payments are overdue by more than 30 days without valid justification.
