63 participants have completed technical training under the Maldives National Service programme, the Ministry of Defence and National Service has announced.
The training programme was conducted at the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) training centre in Baa Kihadhoo over a four-month period. A total of 65 youths representing 35 islands across 15 atolls took part in the programme, with 63 successfully completing the training.
Participants were selected from the first batch of the Maldives National Service programme, which graduated on 15 December 2025. The Ministry stated that the trainees had expressed interest in continuing into vocational and technical training after completing the initial National Service programme.
Training was provided in six vocational fields, including electrician work, automobile engineering, marine engineering, refrigeration and air conditioning, office management, and building and fabrication. Participants who completed the programme will receive a Level 3 certificate.
The Government stated that the National Service programme is aimed at strengthening human resource development and building national capacity by equipping young people with practical skills, discipline and work ethics needed to contribute to national development.
The first batch of the Maldives National Service programme saw 344 participants complete training on 28 December last year, while a second batch of 344 participants graduated earlier this month.
The Ministry of Defence also stated that 80 participants from the second batch are expected to continue into technical training programmes.
